Privacy Policy

Effective 17 September 2026. Applies to the Ved service on WhatsApp and the website ved.chat.

Ved is run by [Company name] ("we"). This policy explains what we collect when you use Ved, why, who sees it, how long we keep it, and how to get it deleted. It is written to be read, not skimmed; the short version is in the first section.

The short version

• We collect what you send Ved: your phone number, name, birth details, current city, your messages, and the birth details of people you ask about.
• We use it to cast charts and reply to you. Readings are produced by software, including an AI language model, from your chart data.
• We never sell your data, never show ads, and never share your chart with anyone else, including other Ved users.
• Ask Ved to delete anything, or your whole account, and it's gone.

1. What we collect

Information you give us

• Your WhatsApp phone number. It is how WhatsApp identifies you to us and is your account identifier.
• Birth details. Your name, date of birth, time of birth (if you know it), and place of birth. These are needed to cast a chart; without them Ved cannot work.
• Current city. Used for the timezone of your daily line and alerts, and for local timings such as rahu kaal and muhurat.
• Other people's birth details. If you ask about a partner, family member or a prospective match, you give us their name, relation to you, and birth details. See section 6.
• Your messages. Everything you write to Ved and everything Ved replies. Questions about health, relationships, finances and family are common here; treat this as sensitive and so do we.
• Preferences. Language, matching tradition (36-gun or porutham), chart style, whether you want alerts.
• Payment records. When you buy credits, our payment processor handles your card. We receive only a confirmation, the amount, the currency, and a transaction reference. We never see or store card numbers.

Information we derive

• Your chart. Planetary positions, dasha periods, yogas, strengths and upcoming transit events calculated from your birth details.
• A memory note. A short summary Ved keeps of your situation and what you've asked, so it doesn't make you repeat yourself. You can ask to see it or clear it.
• Credit balance and history.

Information collected automatically

• On WhatsApp: message timestamps and WhatsApp's message identifiers, which we keep to avoid processing a message twice.
• On ved.chat: page views and button clicks, the page you came from, your rough region (from your browser's timezone and language, not your location), and a random identifier stored in your browser so repeat visits count once. If you tap the WhatsApp button, that identifier is included in the pre-filled message so we can tell the site and the chat belong to the same person. We do not use advertising trackers or fingerprinting.

2. How we use it

• To cast your chart and answer your questions.
• To send you the alerts and daily line you signed up for (section 4).
• To remember your chart, your people and your past questions between conversations.
• To charge for credits and keep the records tax and accounting law require.
• To measure how Ved is used, in aggregate, so we can improve it.
• To detect abuse and keep the service running.

Under UK and EU law our bases are: performance of our contract with you (casting and reading your chart, credits); your consent (the birth details of other people, alerts, analytics in regions where consent is required); and our legitimate interests (security, aggregate measurement, defending legal claims), balanced against your rights.

3. How readings are produced

Your chart is calculated by our own software from your birth details. The written reading is produced by an AI language model (currently provided by Anthropic) working from that calculated chart, your question and your recent conversation. The model does not calculate positions or dates; those come from our software. Ved is an automated service, not a human astrologer, and will say so if you ask.

4. Messages Ved sends first

Ved may message you without a question from you in three cases: alerts before an astrological event in your chart (for example the start of a dasha period), a short daily line each morning, and a reply to something you asked earlier that needed time. You can turn alerts and the daily line off at any time by telling Ved, and they stop immediately. We send these through WhatsApp's approved message templates and follow WhatsApp's rules on when a business may message you.

5. Who else sees your data

We share personal data only with:

• Service providers that help us run Ved: messaging delivery, hosting and database, the AI provider that produces the written readings, geocoding, usage analytics, website delivery, and payment processing. Each is bound by a contract that limits it to that purpose. The current list is in section 14.
• People you direct us to. If you forward a reading or a match card, the person you send it to sees it. We never share your chart or your people with another Ved user on our own.
• Authorities and others where the law requires it, to protect someone's safety, or to defend our legal rights.
• A buyer or successor if the business is sold or merged, in which case this policy continues to apply to your data.

We do not sell personal data and do not share it for advertising.

6. Other people's birth details

When you give Ved someone else's birth details, you are sharing their personal data with us. You must have a reasonable basis to do so, such as that they are your partner or family member and would expect it, or that they agreed. That person can contact us at the address below to ask what is held about them and to have it deleted, and we will act on it. Their details are stored under your account only, are never shared with anyone else, and are deleted when you delete them or your account.

7. International transfers

Our servers are in the United States. If you use Ved from the UK, EU or elsewhere, your data is transferred there. For UK and EU users we rely on the providers' standard contractual clauses and, where applicable, the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

8. How long we keep it

• Your account, chart, people and messages: for as long as you use Ved, and deleted when you delete your account.
• Accounts with no messages for 24 months are deleted automatically.
• Payment and credit records: 7 years, as tax and accounting law requires, in a form separated from your chart and messages.
• Website measurements: 12 months.

9. Your rights and how to use them

Wherever you are, you can: see what we hold about you; correct it; delete some or all of it; turn off alerts; and get a copy of your data. UK and EU users also have the rights to object to and restrict processing, to withdraw consent, and to complain to their data protection authority (the ICO in the UK). California residents have the rights described in the CCPA, including to know, delete and correct; we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of.

The fastest way to use any of these is to tell Ved in the chat, for example "delete Neha's chart", "stop the alerts", or "delete my account". For anything else, or if you can't reach the chat, email privacy@ved.chat. We answer within 30 days.

10. Security

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access inside the company is limited to people who need it to run the service, and every access is logged. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you we will tell you and the relevant authority as the law requires.

11. Children

Ved is for adults. You must be 18 or older to use it. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18; if you think we have, email us and we will delete it. Birth details of a minor shared by a parent (for example to ask about a child) are treated as the parent's data under section 6.

12. Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, Ved will tell you on WhatsApp before it takes effect. The current version is always at ved.chat/privacy.

13. Contact

These companies process data on our behalf to provide Ved. We update this list when a provider changes.
